Reiki Therapy

What is Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing practice that transfers universal life energy through the practitioners hands to promote emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits. This energy is believed to flow through all living things, and is thought to be essential for physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Reiki is based on the idea of blockages or imbalances in the bodies energy field leading to issues or making it difficult for the body to heal itself.

Rei means spiritual wisdom, while Ki is life energy. Reiki promotes healing, stress reduction, and relaxation. Reiki is guided by spiritual consciousness, and has its own wisdom, it can never do harm, adjusting to what is needed for the recipient. Reiki treats the body, mind, and spirit, often resulting in relaxation, feelings of peace, security, well-being, and growth.

Does Reiki Heal?

Reiki is based on energy healing, practitioners channel universal life energy through their hands to the recipient. This helps balance energy, remove blockages, and promote the bodies natural ability to heal, leading to reduced stress and increased relaxation. Many people report feeling better after a Reiki session, both emotionally and physically. Some may feel Reiki helps with emotional issues, others experience relief from pain or illness, however this may vary from person to person. Reiki is frequently used as a complimentary therapy working alongside conventional medical treatments. It is not a replacement for medical care but can be supportive in helping cope with many various conditions.

Other Common Questions

What does a Reiki sessions look like?

A session takes place in a relaxing quiet environment, often with soft music and dim lighting, the use of essential oils or incense is common between treatments to cleanse the room. The practitioner often starts with a brief discussion to understand your needs, intentions, and any areas of focus. Lying down, remaining clothed, on the table, the practitioner may start the treatments, frequently starting at the head. As the Practitioner works you may feel warmth, tingling, or a gentle flow of energy. After the timeframe you'll likely be given some time to come back to awareness, during which insights or observations may be shared.

Is Reiki Connected to religion?

Reiki is spiritual but has no specific connection to religion, you do not need to believe in any beings or have specific beliefs to experience Reiki. Although those with their own beliefs and religion may find it brings them closer to their personal beliefs.

What will you feel during and after a Reiki session?

Many people feel a deep sense of relaxation and calm, often feeling warm sensations or tingling in the body.  It is common to fall asleep during a Reiki session, have emotions brought up from your past, or feel nothing at all.  After a treatment people often experience reduced pain, and a clearer mind, in some cases old pain and trauma briefly resurface as a healing reaction.
