Chiropractic

Dr. Kelly Lund

I got my degree in Kinesiology in 1993, and my Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1997. I’m a certified PGAP rehabilitation practitioner. I completed my yoga teacher training as well as Reiki training and Reiki Mastery. I am a mother of 3 and enjoy working with pregnant women, children, and babies in a family-oriented practice.

Why did you get into Chiropractic?

Even as a child, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I saw myself as a veterinarian or a pediatrician, but health issues occurred that gradually changed my course. In my early 20’s I began to struggle with severe low back pain, I would end up crawling into my MD’s office every 6-9 weeks with pain in my low back and occasionally my leg. She would do an exam and put me on an anti-inflammatory combined with a muscle relaxant and in a few days I would be on the mend. Over time the pain-free periods began to get shorter and shorter. At one point out of sheer frustration, I asked her if she would do something to find the cause of pain so I could be rid of it all together rather than using medication to mask or treat the pain. I ended up getting an MRI and seeing a neurosurgeon for a consult. I soon learned I was a surgical candidate. In the long run out of the fear of surgery, I chose to try alternative care before committing to surgery. I saw a chiropractor and have never looked back. Not only did he help me get my chronic low back pain issues under control but the effective treatment changed the course of my life.

What would you say to new customers?

I think outside the box when it comes to your health care needs. We live in a healthcare system that is short on doctors. Consider bringing your musculoskeletal problems to the musculoskeletal doctors. Chiropractors treat far more than low back pain, bring us your shoulder pain, your sprained ankles, headaches, muscle pain, sleepless nights, sports injuries, chronic pain, sore shoulders, numb hands… You get the idea! If we are unable to help you directly we can often refer you to other options.

Fitness/Wellness philosophy?

I come from a fitness background and enjoy maintaining fitness in my personal life as well as teaching my patients about their own wellness. My experiences in my own life and in my practice have led me to believe there may be a time and place for everything when it comes to health care but the concept of working from least invasive to more invasive really resonates with my values.

Reiki

PJ Ouimet

I got my Reiki I and II training from Michelle Morrison in 2019, followed by Reiki Masters with Dina Mcloud in 2023. I am currently going to Thompson Rivers University and enjoy learning new things to continue developing techniques for healing and growth both for myself and others. I am excited to join Thompson Rivers Chiropractic and start my own practice.

Why did you get into Reiki?

I always struggled with what I wanted to focus on in school and what kind of job I wanted to pursue, it was something that brought a lot of stress and anxiety into my life. I am sensitive to the energies around me and it eliminated a lot of options I thought of pursuing. Although I grew up spiritual, I'd never heard of Reiki or its abilities until I was spontaneously invited into a Reiki class with some friends. Walking in with very little knowledge I was hesitant but was immediately drawn to it and dove into learning about Reiki and other varieties of energetic healing, learning more about myself and the energies around us all.

I practiced Reiki and energy work for many years with friends and family and never really pursued or thought about it as a job option until I found an amazing space I wanted to work in. Reiki is something that comes from the heart and my highest self, and I am so grateful it is something I can pursue.

What would you say to new clients?

As a Reiki practitioner, the first thing I would tell new patients is to approach their healing journey with an open mind and heart. Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive energy healing practice that works on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. I would assure them that during a Reiki session, they may experience sensations like warmth, tingling, or relaxation, and that it is all part of the natural healing process. I would also emphasize the importance of self-care and self-awareness, encouraging them to listen to their bodies and emotions throughout the healing process. Above all, I would remind them that Reiki is a partnership between the practitioner and the patient, and that their willingness to be open to healing energy is essential for the best possible outcome.

Fitness/Wellness philosophy?

I grew up in a very fitness oriented household, with all my family working out, playing sports, and overall maintaining health and fitness. I've continued to maintain heath and fitness, however only recently I've begun learning and focusing on mental and spiritual health. When first introduced to Reiki I experienced an emotional release, and have since been continuing to focus on letting go of stress, anxiety, and things that no longer serve me, learning to maintain not only my body, but mind and spirit.
